Here’s what I’ve been noticing lately:
Many of the businesses I visit seem to have a renewed focus on customer service.
Actually, better than that… it’s more human.
I’m not talking about the big companies or utilities or giant institutions that frustrate us.
I’m talking about the local convenience store where we fill up our gas tanks and grab last-minute groceries.
The bowling alley we bowl at on Sunday.
The post office near our house.
Our local grocery store.
When I ask how their day is going, they engage. They smile. They ask how things are going for me.
We actually have a conversation.
And if I need help with something in their store, they’re the first to offer it.
I’m not sure what it is, but I love it.
It all seems to start with something simple:
“How’s your day going so far?”
So maybe we try that more often.
Not because it’s strategy.
Because it’s human.
Let’s agree to be the ones who start the conversation.
Have a great weekend.
