This past week was a week of reflection for me.
For many people of faith, the past 30–45 days is often a season of reflection. This past week was that for me.
I hope each of us finds time, at least once a year, to reflect deeply on the most important parts of our lives.
Here’s why:
We cannot focus on every part of life all the time.
But within each day, each week, and each month, we do get to choose what we focus on.
In my life, things can get lopsided.
I go in streaks.
One area gets my attention while another is quietly neglected.
Sometimes that lasts for months.
Sometimes I convince myself that 10 minutes on something important is enough… and in hindsight, it clearly wasn’t.
So this past week became a time of reflection for me, primarily around my faith.
I asked myself hard questions.
I considered what I have and haven’t done in alignment with what I believe about God in my life.
And I reflected on my family.
Truthfully, I can’t separate those two parts of my life.
I asked for forgiveness.
I made a few quiet “I will…” commitments for the coming week.
And I have a small card I use regularly where, for the week of April 5, I’ve chosen to focus primarily on two important parts of my life as a way to build on what surfaced in reflection.
This is how I begin most weeks…

My best to you,
